CoolSculpting vs. SculpSure

If you are considering noninvasive body contouring, you’re likely wondering which treatment is right for you.

While there are a number of options to choose from, many patients find themselves comparing CoolSculpting vs. SculpSure.

In addition to destroying fat differently (CoolSculpting uses a patented cooling technology and SculpSure uses hyperthermic lasers), CoolSculpting and SculpSure have several key differences.

Continue reading to learn all about CoolSculpting vs. SculpSure in terms of safety, results, and time.

CoolSculpting vs. SculpSure – Safety

CoolSculpting and SculpSure are both FDA-approved body contouring treatments.

CoolSculpting received FDA-approval in 2010 and is now cleared to treat 9 different areas. SculpSure was granted FDA-clearance in 2015 and has fewer approved indications for use.

Accordingly, CoolSculpting is viewed by many patients and providers as a more trusted and reliable option for nonsurgical fat removal and body contouring.

CoolSculpting vs. SculpSure – Results

When it comes to CoolSculpting vs. SculpSure, both treatments are able to achieve up to a 24 percent reduction in subcutaneous fat. Of course, these results vary from patient to patient based on individual concerns and goals.

CoolSculpting has seven unique curved applicators and is especially well-suited for pinchable fat deposits on the abdomen, love handles, thighs, upper arms, and below the chin.

For these reasons, CoolSculpting is able to offer highly customized treatment to a wide-range of patients.

Conversely, SculpSure’s handpieces are flat and are not ideal for fat rolls or bulges. Rather, they are typically recommended for patients with a thin, even layer of fat.

CoolSculpting vs. SculpSure – Time

Most CoolSculpting treatments can be completed in 35 minutes. The use of DualSculpting, in which two sides are targeted simultaneously, further expedites the fat-freezing process.

SculpSure takes 25 minutes per application site, which is 10 minutes less than CoolSculpting. However, saving this small amount of time may mean fewer treatment options and a less-personalized procedure.
