The 30-second version
What it is
Controlled cooling that eliminates fat cells in one targeted area. No surgery, no needles.
Who it’s for
Adults near their goal weight with pinchable fat that diet and exercise won’t touch.
What to expect
First changes in a few weeks, final results around 2 to 3 months. Individual results vary.
Why who matters
Every CoolSculpting® provider uses the same machine. The results depend on the person using it.
The science-y part
How CoolSculpting® freezes away fat cells
Fat cells are more sensitive to cold than the skin and tissue around them. CoolSculpting® Elite uses that difference to target stubborn fat.
Step 1Stubborn fat
Some pockets of fat hold on no matter how well you eat or how much you exercise.
Step 2Targeted cooling
An applicator cools that one pocket to a carefully controlled temperature. The fat cells are damaged, while your skin stays protected.
Step 3Cleared for good
Over the next few weeks, your body naturally clears those fat cells out. Treated fat cells are gone for good.
CoolSculpting® is for reshaping, not weight loss. Think “my jeans fit differently,” not “the scale dropped 20 pounds.”
Your options, side by side
How CoolSculpting® compares to your other options
Liposuction, GLP-1 medications like Ozempic® or Wegovy®, and diet and exercise can all play a role. Here’s how they stack up.
General comparison for education. For liposuction specifics, talk with a board-certified surgeon. GLP-1 medications are prescription only, so talk with your doctor about whether they’re right for you. Individual results vary.
“I was becoming increasingly frustrated with pockets of stubborn fat in multiple areas despite diet and exercise.”

Why who matters
Same machine, very different results.
A tailor and a department store can start with the same fabric. Only one of them gives you a fit made for your body. CoolSculpting® works the same way.
Hear it from Jennifer, and a happy patient
Jennifer sits down with one of her patients for a quick Q&A: what CoolSculpting® and CoolTone® are, why people choose them, and how he feels about his results.
The right applicator, in the right spot
There are many CoolSculpting® applicators. Choosing and placing them well is what makes results look smooth and natural instead of uneven.
A plan from start to finish
Great results usually come from treating areas in the right order and spacing sessions well, so your whole shape looks balanced.
Knowing when to say no
An experienced provider will tell you when CoolSculpting® isn’t the right tool, instead of booking you anyway.

The questions everyone asks
CoolSculpting® questions, answered
Why won’t my stubborn belly fat go away, even with diet and exercise?
Some fat pockets, like the lower belly, love handles and inner thighs, are very resistant to diet and exercise, even for people who are fit. CoolSculpting® Elite targets those specific pockets directly by eliminating fat cells in the treated area.
Is there a non-surgical alternative to liposuction?
Yes. CoolSculpting® Elite is a non-surgical option for reducing pinchable fat. There are no incisions or anesthesia, and most people return to normal activities right away. It works best for targeted areas, not large-volume fat removal.
Does fat freezing actually work?
CoolSculpting® Elite is FDA-cleared for reducing visible fat bulges in nine areas of the body. Most patients see subtle changes after one session, but most do a series of 2 to 4 sessions to reach their ideal results. Your plan depends on your starting point and the areas treated. Individual results vary.
Is fat freezing the same as CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting® is the FDA-cleared fat freezing treatment made by Allergan Aesthetics, and CoolSculpting® Elite is its newest version. Other devices that advertise “fat freezing” aren’t CoolSculpting®, so if you’re comparing prices, ask which device a practice uses. Cool Contours uses genuine CoolSculpting® Elite.
Are CoolSculpting results permanent?
Fat cells that are eliminated don’t come back. Remaining fat cells can still grow with weight gain, so keeping a stable weight helps you keep your results.
How many CoolSculpting sessions will I need?
Most patients see subtle changes after one session, but most do a series of 2 to 4 sessions to reach their ideal results. Your plan depends on your goals and the areas being treated. Each applicator cycle typically takes 35 to 60 minutes.
Does CoolSculpting hurt?
You may feel intense cold at first, like an ice pack, followed by numbness. Most people relax, read or work on their phone during treatment. Some tenderness afterward is common and temporary.
Is there downtime after CoolSculpting?
No. Most people go right back to work and their usual routine the same day.
What are the side effects of CoolSculpting?
Common side effects are temporary redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness and numbness. Rare side effects can happen, and we review them along with your health history at your consultation. See the Important Safety Information below.
How much does CoolSculpting cost in Arlington?
CoolSculpting® starts at $2,999 per area, all-inclusive, so your final price depends on how many areas you treat and how dramatic a change you’re looking for. You’ll get full pricing at your complimentary consultation, and flexible monthly payment plans are available. See full pricing details.
How do I choose a CoolSculpting provider?
Look for experience, real before and after photos from that practice, and a provider who will be upfront if you’re not a good candidate. Cool Contours is led by Jennifer Kim, an Allergan Medical Institute faculty member who trains other providers in CoolSculpting®.
CoolSculpting® and CoolSculpting® Elite Uses and Important Safety Information
CoolSculpting® and CoolSculpting® Elite Uses
CoolSculpting® and CoolSculpting® Elite are FDA-cleared for the treatment of visible fat bulges in the submental (under the chin) and submandibular (under the jawline) areas, thigh, abdomen, and flank, along with bra fat, back fat, underneath the buttocks (also known as banana roll), and upper arm. It is also FDA-cleared to affect the appearance of lax tissue with submental area treatments. CoolSculpting® and CoolSculpting® Elite are not treatments for weight loss.
CoolSculpting® and CoolSculpting® Elite Important Safety Information
This procedure is not for everyone. You should not be treated with CoolSculpting® or CoolSculpting® Elite if you suffer from cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease, or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or have any medical conditions including recent surgery, pre-existing hernia, and any known sensitivities or allergies.
During the procedure you may experience sensations of pulling, tugging, mild pinching, intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching, cramping and discomfort at the treatment site. These sensations lessen as the area becomes numb. Following the procedure, typical side effects include temporary redness, swelling, blanching, bruising, firmness, stinging, tenderness, cramping, skin inflammation and aching. Sensory alteration (itching, skin sensitivity, tingling, and numbness) can persist up to several weeks after treatment. You may also experience throat discomfort/soreness and sensation of fullness in the back of the throat after submental or submandibular area treatment.
Rare side effects may happen in 1 to 10 out of 10,000 CoolSculpting® and CoolSculpting® Elite treatments (between 0.01% to 0.1%). One such rare side effect is a visible enlargement in the treated area, which may develop 2 to 5 months after treatment, will not resolve on its own, and may require surgical intervention for correction.
